How to brief a laminated-packaging supplier on film structure, protection needs and sample trials for your product.
A structure name is a starting point
A quotation may refer to structures such as PET/PE, OPP/CPP or PET/AL/PE, identifying the layers in a packaging option. An order still needs thickness, dimensions, pouch or reel format and intended-use requirements. Two quotations with the same structure name may have different specifications.
Define the function before the material
Describe what the packaging must do: its contents, packing process and storage conditions. Share any specific performance requirements or proposed checks for supplier review. This avoids selecting a structure simply because another pack looks similar.
Discuss printing, lamination and conversion together
A film structure passes through printing and lamination before slitting or pouch making. Keep artwork, finished specifications and packing requirements together in one order brief. If a material or dimension changes, ask for the connected specifications to be reviewed before proceeding.
Check samples and retain the approved specification
Agree which samples and checks will be used with the actual product. Retain the approved artwork version, structure, dimensions and agreed conditions for repeat orders. A clear record provides a shared reference when discussing quality or a specification change.
